Network ABC has pulled the plug on the show, which asks viewers to bet on whether the duo can complete various stunts, after six episodes.
Wanna Bet? debuted in July with viewing figures of 3.1 million. Ratings began to slide in subsequent weeks and critics were left unmoved by the show.
"Ant and Dec are stunned," a source told The Sun. "Usually everything they touch turns to gold so it's a big shock for them. However, they’ve had other offers in and as they see it, it’s all about finding the right vehicle."
The pair's US agent John Ferriter said: "They have had meetings about moving on to other series. We anticipate they will be back on the air in 2009."
