ABC orders Stephen Gaghan pilot

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gaghan has closed a seven-figure deal to write, executive produce and potentially direct an hour-long pilot for the network.
ABC emerged with Gaghan's services after winning a heating bidding war, with Fox its closest rivals.
Gaghan has a history with ABC, having written episodes of The Practice and NYPD Blue, for which he won an Emmy in 1997.
In the film world, Gaghan has penned Traffic - which earned him an Oscar in 2001 - and written and directed the George Clooney political drama Syriana.
