30 Rock, Mad Men and John Adams were among the TV winners at last night's Golden Globes.

Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin, the stars of 30 Rock, both picked up acting awards for their roles in the NBC sitcom. The show was also named best comedy.

"I want you to know that I really know how very lucky I am to have the year that I've had this year," said Fey, who also found acclaim in 2008 for her impression of Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live.

AMC's '60s-set drama Mad Men, about a New York advertising firm, scooped the best drama award for the second year running. Creator Matthew Weiner said that he was "thrilled" to accept the award after last year's ceremony was cancelled due to the WGA strike.

HBO's miniseries about the second US president, John Adams, also took home several awards. The Tom Hanks-produced series won for best miniseries or TV movie, while Paul Giamatti, Laura Linney and Tom Wilkinson were rewarded with acting gongs.

"Well, this was a helluva job, a helluva job, this little costume drama we put on," Giamatti remarked.

Elsewhere, awards were handed out to Anna Paquin (best actress for True Blood), Gabriel Byrne (best actor for In Treatment) and Laura Dern (best supporting actress for Recount).
