Appleby, Smith reunite for 'Light Years'

Shiri Appleby, Kristoffer Polaha and Kerr Smith will star in The CW's Light Years.

The trio join Brittany Robertson in Liz Tigelaar's dramedy, which centres on 16-year-old Lux who tracks down the birth parents that gave her up for adoption after a high school one-night stand resulted in pregnancy.

Appleby will play Lux's mother Cate, a morning radio presenter who is dating her co-host Ryan (Smith). Polaha has been cast as the father, Nick, an immature bar owner who hasn't spoken to Cate since high school.

Light Years marks a second reunion for Appleby and Smith, who co-starred in WB shows Roswell and Dawson's Creek.
