According to Variety, the pair are eager to work on a 20th anniversary instalment of the popular dramedy as long as creator Glenn Gordon Caron returns to write the special.
A source said: "Bruce is ready to give it a go. He still holds a lot of fondness for the show. As for Cybill, she has never denied the occasional strife of Moonlighting but always had a healthy respect for Bruce's talent, charisma and the quality of the series itself."
Moonlighting, which ran from 1985 to 1989 on ABC, revolved around private detectives Maddie Hayes and David Addison running their own agency.
The show, which played on the sexual tension between the two leads, revived Shepherd's career and turned Willis into a household name. Caron has since created Medium for NBC.
