NBC has handed out early renewals to The Office and 30 Rock for the 2009-2010 season, says The Hollywood Reporter.

In addition to the two sitcoms, the network announced that reality show The Biggest Loser will be back for another run and scheduled in the untitled Amy Poehler comedy for premiere on April 9 at 8.30pm.

Cooking show The Chopping Block will debut on March 11 at 8pm, while Knight Rider, Kath & Kim and Lipstick Jungle are unlikely to return.

It was previously confirmed that John Wells's police drama Southland will replace ER on Thursdays, with new drama Kings shifting to Sundays at 8pm.

NBC's primetime entertainment president Angela Bromstad gave assurances that Jay Leno's new 10pm talkshow doesn't mean the network is cutting down on scripted dramas.

"We have to have the quality and have to have the ratings," Bromstad commented. "We have to strive for that. But we won't replace shows that are loved by fans and are good quality shows just to put another show on."
