Susan Sarandon will also appear in the US version of the BBC programme, which will follow the actresses as they trace their ancestral roots, reports Access Hollywood.
The show is being produced by Kudrow's Is Or Isn't Entertainment company in partnership with Wall To Wall.
"No other programme gives this unique glimpse into the personal lives of celebrities or takes viewers on a quantum leap through history in such an entertaining way," said Paul Telegdy, NBC's executive vice president of alternative programming.
Former Friends star Kudrow said: "This show personalises history and turns it into a gripping narrative. The most striking thing about the show is the realisation of how connected we all are."
The six-episode series will premiere on April 20.
