Hahn joins cast of Fox's 'Ab Fab'

Kathryn Hahn has been cast as Eddie in Fox's remake of British sitcom Absolutely Fabulous.

According to Variety, the actress was handed the role as part of her development deal with the network.

"From working with Kate Winslet to Will Ferrell, it's her broad range of talent that inspired us to give her a development deal," said Marcia Shulman, Fox's executive vice-president of casting.

"AbFab was bought with her specifically in mind."

Former 3rd Rock From The Sun star Kristen Johnston has been cast as her best friend Patsy in the show, which has been rebranded AbFab.

Both actresses attended the initial table read that led to the series being picked up by Fox.

The original comedy, starring Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley, ran on the BBC from 1992 until 1996 and 2001 until 2005. The US version will reportedly transport the lead characters to Los Angeles, but will follow the basic premise of the original series

Hahn ,who starred in Crossing Jordan from 2001 until 2007, has previously appeared in Revolutionary Road and Step Brothers.
