The actor who played Charlie's heroin-addicted brother Liam in Lost, will play Sean McNamara's long-lost sibling Brendan on the show, Entertainment Weekly reports.
A source said: "Sean thought his brother had died, so he's definitely surprised to see him."
They added that Hopkins will be introduced at the end of the sixth season, which has been pencilled in to premiere in early 2010.
Hopkins's character will be a recovering methamphetamine addict who has been living on a nature preserve.
Last year, FX confirmed that Nip/Tuck would end with its 100th episode in 2011.
