'Simpsons' gets record-breaking renewal

The 44-episode pickup will take the show to a total of 493 episodes and 22 seasons, making it the longest-running series in primetime TV history.
Gunsmoke - which was on air for 20 years - currently holds the record, but Fox's renewal of The Simpsons gives it the lead.
The Simpsons, which launched in 1990, is currently in its 20th season.
