Entertainment president Angela Bromstad broke the news to The Hollywood Reporter, quashing rumours which suggested the show was to be axed.
The future of the cult show came into question after UK ratings dropped significantly, and it was revealed that US ratings for the current season are down 30% year-on-year.
Bromstad said that NBC plans to order 18-20 episodes of the action drama for the next season.
