The season premiere of Big Brother 5 scored a 15% ratings uptick on Tuesday night, pulling a 6.9 rating and 11 share for CBS. ((One ratings point represents 1,067,000 households, or one percent of the USA television universe of 106.7m TV-equipped households. The share is the percentage of in-use televisions in a universe tuned to a particular show or channel.)

CBS is promising a "twist so big it could impact the lives of the contestants as much or more than if they win the big prize," and says that the theme of this year's show is "Do Not Assume."

Tuesday night also saw the premiere of The Amazing Race 5, with the show pulling a 6.5 rating and 11 share.
