CBS vows to fight 'nipplegate' fines

CBS has said that it will fight any FCC-imposed fines levied against its stations as a result of Janet Jackson's nipple-baring stunt during the Super Bowl.
In the now-infamous "nipplegate" incident, singer Justin Timberlake exposed part of Janet Jackson's breast in what was later described as a "wardrobe malfunction." The FCC - the American communications regulator - has threatened fines of $27,500 to each CBS owned-and-operated station that aired the incident, according to an Associated Press report last month.
CBS chief Les Moonves told the AP that "the idea of a fine for that is patently ridiculous and we're not going to stand for it. We're going to take that to the courts if it happens... It's perilously dangerous."
