The Britain's Got Talent judge has been chosen to head The Early Show on CBS on June 1, The Mirror reports.
A source said: "Network executives were blown away by Amanda's cut-glass British accent and warm personality.
"But she has never presented any kind of hard news before so it is quite a challenge."
The source added: "She has a lot of live TV experience under her belt, and has presented before - but she is understandably pretty nervous.
"It is widely being seen as a live screen test and Amanda is being lined up as a long-term host."
Holden's spokesperson confirmed: "It is true. Amanda is thrilled."
