Rick Springfield joins 'Californication'

The actor/singer will appear as himself in four episodes of the Showtime dramedy later this year.
The casting follows a call put out by producers requesting "an actor who experienced huge fame in the '80s to play themselves as a now down-on his-luck ex-celebrity waiting tables to get by".
Late last year, it was announced that the David Duchovny-fronted show had been picked up for a third season.
