Despite having not aired yet, the animated series has been picked up for an additional 13 episodes, bringing the total number of episodes to 35.
The comedy show, based on the life of Peter Griffin's neighbour Cleveland Brown, was originally slated to debut in the spring but was pushed back to autumn to allow more time for development.
Fox reportedly decided to commission the extra episodes to ensure that the series remained in continual production and that the episodes would be ready to air in autumn 2010.
Cleveland was co-created by Seth MacFarlane, Rich Appel and Mike Henry, who also voices the title character.
