NBC has announced that the show will go on "with or without" the actors, according to TV Guide.
The stars of the series are renegotiating their contracts with the Peacock Network, with the discussion process said to be moving in an "aggressive" direction.
"The show is coming back; we hope they come back with it," said NBC Entertainment co-chairman Marc Graboff.
When asked if the network would recast the lead actors if the negotiations fail, Graboff said: "The show's coming back - with or without them."
