Leonard Nimoy has said that he enjoyed working on Fringe, calling the experience "delicious".

The 78-year-old actor, famous for his role as Captain Spock in Star Trek, appears as the mysterious William Bell in the US sci-fi show's season finale.

"I had a delicious time on this episode," he said. "I like the position they have given me, I like the enigma of this character.

"It's not unlike any other show that's ever been done. It's just that the execution is so much more thoughtful and theatrical than what I've seen in the past."

Last month, producer J.J. Abrams confessed that working with Nimoy was both "intimidating and wonderful".

Earlier this week, Fox announced that it has renewed Fringe for a second season.
