US 'Ab Fab' pilot rejected

An American pilot of British sitcom Absolutely Fabulous starring Kathryn Hahn and Kristen Johnson has been rejected by Fox.

The rebranded Ab Fab remake would have seen Hahn play Edina and Johnson as Patsy, roles originally performed by Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley respectively.

Saunders was to have an executive producer credit on the series, which would have been overseen by Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz and Kim Tannenbaum.

A US version of the show starring Roseanne Barr and Carrie Fisher was previously planned by ABC ten years ago, but the project never made it to the screen.
