In an interview with the E! Entertainment channel, Noah Wyle has said that he intends to leave ER at the end of it's current season.
Wyle, Dr John Carter in the show, is the last of the continous original cast members, having been in the show its launch in 1994.
During the interview Wyle said: "I've just got other stuff going in my life right now, I've got a son, I've got family and friends that said goodbye to me 12 years ago and are wondering when I'm coming back, and this little urge to scratch a different kind of itch in my career, and it's just coming to the end of the character's run."
However, whilst he may have told just about everyone via E! Entertainment that he wishes to leave when his contract expires, he's yet to offically tell series creator John Wells, or Warner Television.
With or without Noah Wyle, NBC have already committed ER to another season.
