'Family Guy' creator after comedy Emmy
Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane has said that he hopes the series will be the first animated show to win a comedy Emmy.

MacFarlane will enter the programme in the awards' comedy category for the second year in a row, Variety reports.

"We don't produce our show the way that SpongeBob does," he said. "We're much more analogous to traditional sitcoms."

He added: "Our writers don't come from animation; they come from comedies. I hear people all the time tell me they love The Office, 30 Rock and our show. Then why are we not all competing in the same world?"

Last year, Family Guy made the top ten finalists, however failed to reach the final five nominees.

"I suspected we wouldn't make the top five last year, but that was a big step," MacFarlane acknowledged.
