The actor, who starred as Jesse Katsopolis in the ABC show, told the New York Daily News that he was thinking about a project that did not involve original cast members, such as Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen.
"I'm working on a movie idea, but it wouldn't be us playing us," he explained. "I'm not 100% sure but it would probably take place in the first few years [of the show]."
Full House, which ran from 1987 until 1995, followed a widowed father's attempts to raise his three daughters along with his best friends. It was eventually cancelled because of increasing production costs.
Stamos, who recently appeared in ER, went on to say that he would love to see Spider-Man's James Franco taking on his original role, with Steve Carrell playing lead character Danny Tanner (originally played by Bob Saget).
He added that although he was doubtful about a Full House reunion "happening anytime soon", he still kept in touch with his former castmates.
"We’re all very close. I saw Ashley [Olsen] a couple weeks ago. Bob [Saget] and Dave [Coullier] I see a lot."
