The Alaskan governor has called a truce to the feud that began last week when Letterman joked that her 18-year-old daughter Bristol had gotten “knocked up” by Alex Rodriguez, E! reports.
In a statement issued this morning, Palin said: "Of course it's accepted on behalf of young women, like my daughters, who hope men who 'joke' about public displays of sexual exploitation of girls will soon evolve.
"Letterman certainly has the right to 'joke' about whatever he wants to, and thankfully we have the right to express our reaction."
According to The New York Times, a protest outside the Ed Sullivan Theatre - where Letterman's chatshow is filmed - is tentatively planned for today, while Embassy Suites Hotel have pulled their advertising from CBS’s website in the wake of the controversy.
