US version of 'Bad Girls' planned

A US version of ITV1's Bad Girls is being planned following a development deal with Fox TV Studios, according to a report in The Mirror today.
Producers hope that the series will be a hit following its success in the UK, however some scenes may have to be watered down to suit US audiences.
Creator Brian Park told the newspaper, "It's early days, we don't yet know which channel will be screening it.
"If it ends up on HBO we can make a more gritty show, for a more mainstream channel like ABC it would need to be diluted."
Spin City star Heather Locklear, former Cheers actress Kirstie Alley and Frasier's Jane Leeves are all on the producers' wishlist of actresses to take the starring roles.
One insider revealed, "The tricky bit will be finding American actresses who are prepared to appear on screen looking downtrodden and unkempt.
"The show is all about the characters but as jail-birds they are a long way from being glamorous.
"Because of that casting could prove to be quite a challenge."
