American TV network ABC has dropped plans to air the Miss America pageant next year.
The network has aired coverage of the pageant for the past eight years. No reasons were given by the network for the decision, but a spokesperson for the pageant told Reuters that the Miss America Organisation and ABC had "been growing farther apart with respect to the fundamental elements of the show" over the past few years.
