Speaking to People, the star - recognised as an outstanding supporting actor in a comedy for How I Met Your Mother - said that it was "fantastic" to receive a nomination.
"Being asked to host the show - terrific," he said. "Getting a third nomination - fantastic. Having the ability to scribble my name in the envelope backstage when no one is looking - priceless."
Harris will host this year's ceremony, which takes place on September 20 in Los Angeles.
