Nutter: 'Eastwick isn't Charmed clone'

David Nutter has claimed that forthcoming TV series Eastwick is not at all like Charmed.

The veteran television director was recently brought in to helm the pilot episode for the ABC adaptation of 1987 film The Witches Of Eastwick.

Nutter said that although audiences may see similarities between Charmed and his show, which stars Rebecca Romijn as one of three women who discovers that she has supernatural powers, they are extremely different projects.

He told Sci-Fi Wire: "What you are going to learn is what the Devil's intent really is, while these women come into their own with these powers, [to] decide what they want to be when they grow up, and how they are going to incorporate these abilities.

"When all these women get together, they form this cone of power, so it's all about them realising what they are all about."

Nutted added that the series will feature the character of the Devil playing a pivotal part of the storyline, saying: "The Devil in the series comes in a much more interesting fashion, in the sense it's all about seduction and how he's going to seduce these women."

It was reported earlier that star Lindsay Price revealed the show will have an entirely musical episode.

Eastwick will debut in the US this autumn on ABC.
