US news channels cover Arafat death

US news channels stayed live with news of Yasser Arafat's death on Monday night and into Tuesday morning.
The three main channels - CNN, MSNBC and Fox - broke into west coast-targeted taped repeats of programming around 11:10pm ET, shortly before the Associated Press sent a news alert advising media organisations of Arafat's death. Broadcast network ABC carried coverage on its Nightline programme.

CNN
NewsNight anchor Aaron Brown, who had signed off at 11pm ET, got back in the anchor chair to present continuing coverage of the breaking news. Shortly after midnight ET, CNN/US began simulcasting CNN International coverage from London.

MSNBC
Joe Scarborough and Pat Buchanan anchored coverage on MSNBC. Scarborough anchors the channel's 10pm Scarborough Country show.

Fox News broke into a repeat of the O'Reilly Factor around 11:10pm ET. Their coverage was anchored by Laurie Dhue.
