The 47-year-old actress, who played conniving landlady and advertising executive Amanda Woodward on the original series from 1993 to 1999, had reportedly passed on reprising her role.
An insider for the show said at the time that there was no feasible way to reintroduce her character for the update. However, executive producer Todd Slavkin hinted to reporters at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour that there was a plausible means for Locklear's return, People reports.
"The door is always open for Heather Locklear. We're huge fans of hers. We have a great way for her to come into the show," he said.
Original Melrose alumni Laura Leighton, Thomas Calabro, Josie Bissett and Daphne Zuniga will appear on the new version.
It was reported earlier that Grant Show was in discussions to revisit his part of Jake Hanson, while former co-star Andrew Shue (Billy Campbell) said that he would not partake in the remake.
Melrose Place will debut on Tuesday, September 8 on The CW.
