Speaking to ET Online, Brenneman - Violet Turner in the Grey's Anatomy spinoff - revealed that she now knows the father of her character's baby, hinting: "I just found out and I am not saying!"
Discussing the real-life case where a baby was allegedly cut out of its mother's womb in Massachusetts last year, Brenneman added: "That copycat stuff freaks me out. I knew of another case that predated our show.
"I think people were very affected by the season finale. It was a very powerful mojo to put out there."
Show creator Shonda Rhimes also revealed that the new season will pick up about 20 minutes after the second season finale.
"I thought the most interesting thing about putting someone in that position is to watch as you get them out of it," she said. " So we are reintroduced to the [Private Practice] world in a high-stakes way."
Practice will return for its third season on Thursday, October 1, following the new season premiere of Grey's.
