Abdul 'announced as Divas Live host'

Paula Abdul has reportedly confirmed that she is to host VH1's upcoming Divas Live programme.

The 47-year-old, who recently stepped down as a judge on American Idol, had been linked to becoming a panellist on both So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing With The Stars.

The 'Straight Up' singer made the statement about her new role via her Twitter page, E! reports.

She wrote: "Hi guys! im really excited 2 announce ill b hosting this year's VH1 Divas! I am so excited!! (sic)"

Abdul will host the all-female concert on September 17, which will feature Idol winners Kelly Clarkson and Jordin Sparks.

Leona Lewis, Miley Cyrus and Adele will also perform on the show benefiting the network's non-profit organisation Save The Music Foundation, scheduled to take place at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's Howard Gilman Opera House in New York.
