The premiere of the new season of 24 has been expanded yet again, US network FOX confirmed today.

Under the plans, a mammoth four hours of the real-time drama will be shown over two consecutive days in January. The two-hour "blockbuster" premiere, airing at 8pm on Sunday, January 9, will now be followed by another double billing at 8pm the following day.

The series will then air each Monday at 9pm without any repeats or pre-emptions through to the season finale in May.

24 is also expected to return to UK screens in January.
