Abdul 'dresses as DeGeneres on Divas'

Paula Abdul reportedly dressed up as new American Idol judge Ellen DeGeneres on VH1's Divas Live.

The 47-year-old was previously announced as the presenter for the concert, while DeGeneres was confirmed as her Idol replacement this month.

The 'Straight Up' singer appeared on the show wearing a blonde wig and an outfit which included a vest and sneakers. She imitated the US chatshow host by dancing in the aisles of the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York City, People reports.

"Why are you all staring at me? Can't a girl try out for a new job?" Abdul asked the audience. "All kidding aside, [I have] nothing but love for Ellen, and I wish you the best of luck and congratulations on your new gig.

"And call me! You gotta call me if you have any Simon problems, 'cause you know, I know him best."

She opened the special by saying: "I'm Paula Abdul, and this is not American Idol!"

DeGeneres recently admitted that she hoped that Abdul was "okay" with her being cast on the reality programme. The latter said that her replacement would make a great judge on Idol.
