According to The Hollywood Reporter, the proposed project will be created by the series showrunner Ed Bernero and executive producer Chris Mundy.
The spinoff, which will be penned by Mundy, is said to be airing as an episode of Criminal Minds in the spring. Early details emerging suggest that the plot will focus on a new team of FBI agents rather than existing Minds characters.
The fifth season premiere of Criminal Minds recently pulled in a strong 17.42m for CBS, easily winning its timeslot.
