NBC: Tsunami Relief

NBC's owned and operated stations in the US aired a one-hour telethon on Wednesday evening.

The special, NBC for Tsunami Relief was broadcast from WNBC-TV's studios at the Rockefeller Centre in New York City, although local stations aired cut-in features with live reports of local fund drives.

"As members of the broadcast industry, it is imperative that we do whatever possible to reach out to those in need and provide support," said Jay Ireland, president of NBC Universal TV Stations.

UNICEF Ambassadors and supporters including Debra Messing, Sarah Jessica Parker, Tea Leoni and Clay Aiken, made live appearances on the broadcast.

NBC is planning to air another live fund drive during primetime on Saturday, January 15. That special will air on all NBC affiliate stations and other NBC Universal-owned cable channels.
