The General Hospital actor recently signed on to portray "a very twisted, warped version" of himself on the third season of the Showtime series.
He told The Huffington Post: "It's not full-frontal, but it's pretty much full on. As long as it's for the part, I'm cool with it. And it's funny. It's not done to be particularly sexy."
Springfield will strip down during a party scene that features series stars David Duchovny and Evan Handler.
He added: "I've got a sore back from carrying this naked girl around."
Showtime earlier renewed the programme for a fourth season, which will return in 2010 with 12 new episodes.
