A deal for the comedy, which Perry will executive produce, co-write and star in, is still being finalised and is expected to involve series-size penalties to both the former Friends star and Sony TV, who are producing the project.
If the series goes ahead, it will be ABC's second show fronted by a Friends alum. Earlier this week, the alphabet network gave a full-season order to Courteney Cox-fronted comedy Cougar Town.
