The actress, who played Lola in the Jamie Lynn Spears-fronted series, recently signed on for the half-hour show revolving around kids at a performing arts school in Hollywood.
Speaking to the New York Post, she said: "[My mum and I] sat at this dinner meeting [with Zoey creator Dan Schneider] and we were bouncing off ideas.
"I said, 'Well, I went to a performing arts middle school when I was younger, maybe we can do something with that?' Dan thought that was a great idea and from that we developed Victorious."
The 16-year-old added that the first episode contains a song-and-dance routine featuring her character Tori Vega.
"It was actually my first time ever performing in front of people," she explained. "[It] was pretty intense. But, like my character, once I got on stage, I just completely forgot about everything - I was so in the zone that I loved every second of it."
Victorious will begin on Nickelodeon next year.
