News host Lou Dobbs leaving CNN

The 64-year-old host of Lou Dobbs Tonight announced on his show on Wednesday that CNN had released him from his contract, reports The New York Times.
"Some leaders in the media, politics and business have been urging me to go beyond my role here at CNN and engage in constructive problem-solving," Dobbs stated.
The star added that he plans "to pursue new opportunities".
CNN employees could not confirm if he is moving to another network.
Dobbs had been with the broadcaster since its launch in 1980.
