The former My Name Is Earl actor will play Dwight Hendricks, a Memphis police officer who lives with his mother and moonlights as an Elvis impersonator, says The Hollywood Reporter.
TNT described the show as an "offbeat drama" in a press release.
Clark Johnson, whose directing credits include The Shield and The Wire, will helm the pilot from a script by Liz M. Garcia and Joshua Harto.
Lee is also slated to direct and star in a live-action pilot for Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. He will further feature in the forthcoming Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.
