The television mogul recently confirmed that she would step down from The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2011 after 25 seasons.
Speaking to ET Online, he said: "It is the end of an era. She is the best that has ever been - Oprah and Phil Donahue. Donahue created [the genre] and she perfected it.
"There will never be another talk show like hers, or have the same impact - at least not in the foreseeable future."
He added: "If she needs a job, I think I can find her one! They have good government programmes to help her!"
Springer is scheduled to return to Dancing With The Stars tonight for a special performance alongside other previous contestants.
