Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, the 30-year-old actor, who plays Eli Wallace on the sci-fi series, said that he is pleased that the writers have explored a different side to his alter-ego.
"I love being the funny guy in the show, but at the same time, as you saw in the episode 'Time', they provided me with a nice ability other than just being funny," he said.
"I think there's a lot more of that - more seriousness as his relationships progress. There'll be some more of that action that you're after! At the same time, you'll discover a lot about some of the character you haven't seen much of before."
He added: "There's a really heart-wrenching episode."
Blue went on to hint that the Universe team may soon find themselves under threat from a new enemy.
