According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Eye network is replacing the ailing Sunday night medical drama with Cold Case, which initially aired in a 10pm slot.
Cold Case's slot will then be taken over by an "unspecified crime drama".
Despite the near-cancellation, CBS insists that Rivers is still in production and the network will complete all 13 episodes of its initial order.
The Alex O'Loughlin-fronted Rivers opened to 9.17m Sunday, October 4, but its latest episode managed just 7.71m. Its average over its eight-episode run is 8.3m.
