The Mamma Mia! actress has played Bill Paxton’s daughter Sarah since 2006. She is leaving the show to pursue a film career full-time, reports TV Guide.
"She's been exploring her movie career for a couple of years now, and we've been giving her a lot of room to do that,” said Big Love creator Will Scheffer.
"I know having a commitment to a show for six months definitely cuts into her ability to pursue that career."
Seyfried will depart the show in the eighth episode of season four.
Big Love returns to HBO with new episodes in January.
