According to The AP, the late-night sketch show had Abby Elliott portray Murphy as "spacey and living in the past" during its 'Weekend Update' segment. At the time, the actress had been fired from a film project.
The 32-year-old died on Sunday of cardiac arrest. The investigation into her passing is ongoing.
The sketch has now been removed from Hulu.com, a video website co-owned by NBC Universal. The removal reportedly prompted bloggers and users to question the bit's tastefulness and the decision to remove it without notification.
A publicist for Saturday Night Live did not respond to requests for comment.
