The pilot is based on the book of the same name by Howard Morris and Jenny Lee, says The Hollywood Reporter.
The story centres on a couple who have both been married before. Morris and Lee also scripted the episode, produced by Elliot Webb.
The network has not announced casting for the project.
ABC also recently picked up comedian Danny Wallace's Awkward Situations for Men for next season.
