ABC picks up Mencia, Cedric comedies

ABC has bought comedy show pitches from Carlos Mencia and Cedric The Entertainer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mencia's sitcom will be based on his life and centre on a man living with a large ethnic family.

Cedric's series will feature the comedian as a retired athlete-turned-radio host whose existence is changed when his son and granddaughter re-enter his life.

ABC also recently picked up pitches by comedian Danny Wallace and former Man Show host Adam Carolla.
