'Contender' makes disappointing ratings debut

The debut of The Contender - billed by NBC as "the next great human drama" - failed to bring ratings success to the network on Monday evening.
Nielsen Media Research numbers indicate that NBC trailed in third place behind Fox and CBS. Fox aired American Idol; CBS went with Two and a Half Men and CSI: Miami. Boss Swap and Super Nanny placed ABC in fourth place, although the numbers weren't that far behind NBC's.
The show's regular timeslot will be Sunday nights at 8pm, where it will go up against Cold Case on CBS and Extreme Makeover on ABC.
The Contender will air on ITV2 in the UK.
