Interior designer and decorator Nate Berkus has received a television deal to host The Nate Berkus Show, according to The New York Times.
Berkus rose to fame after regular guest appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Winfrey's production company Harpo, along with Sony Pictures Television, will produce the show and is expected to make a public announcement on Wednesday.
"Nate is a bona fide star," said Erik Logan, co-president of Harpo Productions. “We know our viewers love him.”
“When Nate appears with Oprah, the ratings spike”, said John Weiser, president of distribution for Sony Pictures Television. Weiser claimed that total audience ratings increased by 13% when Berkus joined Winfrey and by 20% for women viewers between 25 and 54 years old.
Berkus is the latest in a growing list of Oprah-spawned hosts that includes Dr Phil McGraw and Rachael Ray.
