Bigelow has recently won a raft of awards for her film The Hurt Locker and has been nominated for best director at the Oscars.
The Hollywood Reporter says that she has now agreed to work on the pilot for The Miraculous Year, written by John Logan. The pair will also executive produce the project with Lydia Pilcher.
The drama follows a New York family seen from the point of view of a self-destructive Broadway composer.
Filming for the pilot is expected to begin in May or June.
